What is Cornerstone?

Cornerstone is a counselling service based at St Peter's Church, Yateley.  The counsellors are professionally trained for the work they do, and adhere to the code of ethics of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, of which Cornerstone is a member.

What do we offer?

Cornerstone's counsellors offer people the opportunity to explore their feelings. We come alongside people in their difficulties and share with them, over a number of weeks, a journey towards a better understanding of themselves and their problems.  Counselling invites people to change by helping them to find new strength and the freedom to make their own choices.

Who can we help?

The service provides help for people with many different needs including depression, anxiety/panic attacks, abuse, marital/relationship issues and bereavement.  You do not have to be a member of the church or a Christian to be able to use the services of Cornerstone; you do have to want to change things and to be committed to achieving this.

What about money?

Cornerstone does ask people who use the service to make a payment for each session. The arrangement is reviewed from time to time.  We would not, however, wish anyone to be deterred from making enquiries because of an anxiety about cost.

What happens when you approach Cornerstone?

When you first telephone you will be invited to meet one of the counsellors who will explore with you what you want from the service and explain what we can offer. You will also be asked for some information about yourself. The next step, if the service is able to help, is for you to be assigned a counsellor who will be able to see you on a regular basis for as long as is necessary for your particular needs.
