Sunday at 10:00am

God continues to lead us faithfully into deeper worship, prayer and looking outwards to our community and beyond. It is evident that God is using the talents of many ordinary people, not raising up superstars. We give thanks for everyone, especially those who do the many less seen tasks of service.

Worship

Our times of worship on Sunday mornings have continued to grow in depth and quality. Each week a different group of people takes the lead. We are so grateful to the many musicians and singers in the congregation.

Prayer

We have focussed on "raising the profile of prayer" individually and together. On Sunday mornings our teaching has looked at a number of aspects of prayer, as well as having regular opportunities for people to tell us about answers to prayer.

Our weekly "worship and waiting on God" has continued. We start by worshipping God, and then spend time quietly in His presence asking what is on His heart before praying about those things. Time and again He encourages us in our worship and to have our hearts and minds focussed outward towards our community.

Mission

One Sunday each term, we focus on mission. During the first half of 2001, we heard about Nicky Darby's work (for the evangelical mission agency Crosslinks) in Uganda, and we raised about £3500 to build a house for Nicky's Ugandan colleague Jesca. We also sent a member of the congregation out to Uganda to take the money and spend time with Nicky; it was a wonderful time for both of them.

We have also heard about Causeway Prospects and its work with people with learning disabilities, and about the Mother's Union, especially the family holiday. A number of our congregation work for Causeway Prospects, and we also provided leaders and helpers for the MU family holiday.

As usual around Christmas time, we went carol singing in the neighbourhood of the Centre, and then collected used Christmas trees for recycling; both events are much appreciated by our community. The latter has been a real opportunity to meet people and talk on their doorsteps.

Children

We are very grateful to our dedicated group of leaders for our children's groups and we are now delighted to have a full complement of leaders. The All-Age Team has provided inspiring and challenging monthly services, and during the recent one on Palm Sunday, another member of the congregation, dressed as the High Priest Caiaphas wearing a dog-collar, was mistaken for a new member of the St Peter's clergy team!
