Sunday at 11:15am
A calm, caring and peaceful atmosphere has become the hallmark of the 11.15am service. Nevertheless, the relatively high average age of the congregation does not imply a reluctance to embrace change or innovation. The members are young at heart and enjoy opportunities for unusual – sometimes even fun – elements in their worship.
Our services mainly alternate between Morning Worship, and Holy Communion, with the 5th Sunday in the month giving the chance to do something different. They offer a more structured and reflective form of service, but we also relish innovative opportunities to explore other aspects of the liturgy. We also offer a warm and ready welcome to visitors, whether potential congregation members, preachers or leaders of services on particular themes. It is now a great privilege to host most of the Baptism services.
Throughout the year we highlight events in the church calendar with special services or elements within worship. Special services of readings and music regularly take place on Palm Sunday, Remembrance Day, and as part of the Christmas celebrations. In the past we have marked St Peter’s Day in a similar way. From time to time we enjoy a Songs of Praise service. We have a robed choir which adds a special dimension to the worship in the services.
Social events include our twice-yearly Agape lunch, which is very popular, and a summer picnic. Other successful one-off events have been organised, and we intend to continue this in the future.
